Tunes from Shetland and Orkney
- Spootiskerry
- Da (Lerwick) Lounge Bar
- Love of the Isles . A Phil Cunningham, Aly Bain tune, and I think the Isles referred to are Shetland, or maybe Orkney and Shetland together. In any event, a lovely tune, very beloved in Shetland.
- Da Auld Noost
- Da Day Dawn A very old Shetland tune, with deep Norse roots, traditionally played to welcome the New Year, or at Old Yule. Played very slowly. A fairly traditional rendition is here on Youtube (the first tune in the set of three).
- Da Slockit Light
- The Shetland Molecule
- Mrs. MacLeod o' King St. This is an Orkney tune, written by Doug Montgomery. I learned it at a workshop run by him, Karen Tweed and Timo Alakotila during the 2024 Orkney Nordic Nights. Doug wrote it in honor of the retirement of Mrs. MacLeod, who was a schoolteacher in Kirkwall.
- Spreefix . Another one I learned at Orkney Nordic Nights, though this one is written by Fair Isle fiddler **FILL IN** , arranged by Timo Alakotila
