June 2024 update: Calqit 2024 is now available.
Calqit has been developed on Microsoft Windows, and compiled on a Windows 10 machine (2022). Versions for other operating systems may be created if there is enough interest. The distributed version has a few advanced mathematical functions disabled, or replaced by slower versions, in order to respect copyrights. This will not affect most users. The copyright for the resulting program is owned by A. M. Steane. I am hereby making the program freely available (with the standard disclaimer mentioned below). The program incorporates a few mathematical functions from the Gnu Scientific Library (GSL), and therefore is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

Last updated June 2024
(version 2024.4) with some bug fixes and other improvements.
You will receive a ZIP file called calqit2024.zip. Extract it at a convenient place on your computer, then run the calqit2024.exe file (i.e. double-click it in the Windows Explorer). If you want a shortcut on your desk top, then right-click calqit.exe, and select "create shortcut" from the drop-down menu. Then move this shortcut (by drag and drop) from the folder to your desktop.
When you first run Calqit, your anti-virus software should kick in and check it (it should pass of course!). This will slow down the first run (and the first use of the help feature and property feature) but subsequent runs should then be quick.

Calqit is self-contained. You can run it on its own without the need for any other programs. However, to write your own
programs you will want a text editor. If you don't already have one, a good quality
text editor is "Notepad++" at

I understand that the Lua project also offers a good editor. Microsoft also offers some good free software to help programmers.
